Giving up can be an easy way out. But getting up after falling several times, but persevering through it all, is what makes you successful. Dalia made sure to persevere with everything that life threw in her direction, and by not giving up, she emerged as a much-learned woman. She never believed in quitting, and raising her daughter as a single mother is a testament to that. She didn’t see this as an obstacle, for it made her grow and work harder in achieving her goals.
SEEK CHANGE TO GROW
Dalia started working when she was just 15 years old. She believes that hard work and the willingness to succeed in anything can take you anywhere. She worked for a company that offered her an opportunity to move out of her home country, and she has never looked back. Leaving her country wasnโt that hard because she believed that for her to grow, she must seek change. Since then, Dalia rendered work in various countries and has managed projects in Morocco, South Africa, Saudi, and now in the United Arab Emirates. Sheโs been living in the UAE since 2011 and is now working as a Senior Regional Manager at Dell Technologies. She also mentors young girls when it comes to achieving their goals and by helping overcome their challenges.
SUCCESS HABITS
In a fast-paced environment, Dalia manages to find a balance between life and work by setting her priorities. She also handles her time by giving a 15-minute buffer on everything that she does, tries to be organized, and always writes in her journal daily. For her, managing her time, believing in herself, admitting to mistakes and learning from these are what keeps her winning in life.
STUMBLING BLOCKS
Dalia sees bureaucracy in big companies as a huge barrier when it comes to succeeding in the workplace. She also perceives time as a stumbling block, and always wishes for more so she could finish and accomplish more of her responsibilities every day. But despite it all, she persists and does everything that she can to thrive at her job.
When asked what she would do differently if she had another chance to start all over, she said that she would finish college much faster so she could take her MPA promptly. โI would also give myself more time to be an Art Director instead of leaving it for the IT industry,โ Dalia shared.
WORDS OF WISDOM
Dalia wants the next generation of young women to succeed in the workplace or business, and she imparts some great advice for all the ladies who are dreamers and achievers like her. โSeek new opportunities, and donโt be afraid of change. We will never grow if we remain in our comfort zone. You should also believe in yourself, recognize your capabilities, and be self-aware. Moreover, never commit to something that you are not 100% sure of because your credibility is everything. Lastly, do a yearly challenge. Find ways to be better. Compete with yourself so you can achieve the best version of yourself.โ
Love and light,
Mai
