Hi, my name is Jane. I just wanted to share our very first meet-up and how it all began. As you know, 2019 was a super busy year for me, especially when it came to traveling and blogging. During this hectic time, I also met a lot of amazing people in the blogging and events industry. And they would usually ask me to meet up, which I couldn’t do one-by-one due to my tight schedule. But then I thought of an incredible idea. Why not just meet everyone all in one place, right?

So, I shared the idea with my friends Mai, Les, and Ruby, in hopes that they would join the gathering, which they did. And if you follow my Instagram stories, you’ll always see us frequently meeting up in Dubai. We make it a point to see each other at least once a month so we could catch up over delish food and juicy gossip. We enjoy trying out different eateries because you know, food is life! I feel like meeting without food is just too sad. It’s something that gives us that extra motivation to do things.

To get the ball rolling, I created several polls via Instagram stories to ask my network of lady friends about their interest to meet up in Dubai. Polls were made to inform them of the open dates, and this allowed them to cast their votes based on their availability. While this was a good strategy, collecting data was a long process. It was tiring to get everyone’s schedules to come together, but it was all worth it in the end.

It wasn’t long until we decided to set our gathering at Cafe De Bahia in Burjuman. But it rained in Dubai and in the UAE on the same day of our event. And you know, when it rains here, it pours and causes heavy flooding almost anywhere. It was probably the worst flood I’ve seen in my four years here. The photos and videos that were taken along Sheikh Zayed road were unbelievable. Some of the ladies had to cancel, as making the commute was impossible. But as they say, the show must go on! Well, at least, for some of us.

All twelve ladies came to the cafe, had lunch, and played Human Bingo prepared by Mai (@budgetbiyahera). The game was a good ice breaker since most of us were physically meeting each other for the first time despite following one another on Instagram. The day turned out to be great for everyone who came. Different topics were discussed, and personal stories were shared. It was fun to share meaningful and precious conversations with these ladies.

Thank you so much to everyone who came and conquered the day! Even though it was flooding and raining, we (@ladieswhoonline) felt grateful for all of your efforts. Thank you for sharing your time to meet up with us. We do appreciate it.

We can’t wait to meet everyone again! And we will all see each other again after our Covid-19 break (social distancing is key). So keep safe and stay healthy everyone!
