HIKING IDEAS YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY TRY – Ladies who online
In the world of mountaineering and hiking, you would think that it’s a sport that can only be done with the help of men. This may have been true in the past. But hiking activities have now become accessible for the ladies too (we’re now in the 21st century). With that being said, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite hikes near the UAE, some of which you and your squad can do on a short weekend.
Jebel Shams, Oman
While this can be explored in under a day, I will not recommend it for a day hike since it is quite long. Among the three on the list, this is probably the most challenging. But with proper preparation, the mountain itself will reward you with the most beautiful view of the gorge and the canyon. It is dubbed as the Grand Canyon of the Middle East. You will understand why once you see it with your own eyes!
Gergeti Glacier via Gergeti Trinity Church, Georgia
Georgia, a neighboring country (3.5 hours away from the UAE), boasts of its beautiful Gergeti Trinity Church in Kazbegi. Did you know that there’s an amazing landscape when you go higher up the summit? It might take you for another long ascent, but it’s a doable day hike as long as you start early. Not only will you find a picturesque view of the Gergeti Trinity Church from above, but you will also see the Gergeti Glacier and the summit of Mt. Kazbek much closer.
Hong Kong Trail, Hong Kong
I know this is a little bit far compared to Oman and Georgia. But trust me, Hong Kong’s outdoor scene is underrated. It’s also the perfect place to indulge in when it comes to satisfying your dumpling cravings.
The first two trails might be a bit long for you. That’s why I’m introducing a trail where the option to hike it is in your hands. The Hong Kong Trail, technically, is a 50-km path across Hong Kong Island. But don’t worry because it’s divided into eight sections. What’s great about it is that you can do one area at a time for short hikes. You can even do the first section at the famous Victoria Peak. What a good way to burn the calories from eating all the dumplings, right?
There you go! Start preparing for your hike with your squad or family as early as now so that after this global pandemic, you can start hiking your way up!
P.S. Some hikes are long, which may also come with a few steeper sections. But there are no technical sections (use of ropes, ladder bridges, or any sort) along the trail. These hikes are beginner-friendly and even child-friendly too! You can hike any of these trails without a guide. But of course, make sure you do proper research and preparation for your trek.
